故事的開(kāi)端，總是充滿(mǎn)了令人會(huì )心一笑的“社死”瞬間。我們的主人公，一個(gè)典型的“資深”宅男，whoseheartstillbeatsforthevibrantworldofanime,findshimselfinaratherprecarioussituation.He’sbeenharboringasecretpassionforanimeconventions,apassionthathiswife,abeaconofpracticalityandperhapsatadoblivioustohisinnerworld,wouldn'tquiteunderstand.Thetitleitself,《不該瞞著(zhù)妻子去漫展》(Shouldn'tHaveHiddenGoingtotheComicConfromMyWife),isaloudandclearsignaloftheimpendingcomedicanddramaticstorm.

TheconflictisbrewedwhenAhZhaidiscoversthathisabsolutefavorite,thelegendary,once-in-a-decadeanimeconvention,ishappeningintown.Thisisn'tjustanyconvention;it'stheonewherehischildhoodheroeswillmakearareappearance,wherelimitededitionmerchandisethathe'sonlydreamedofwillbeavailable,andwherehecanfinallyreconnectwiththevibrantcommunitythatunderstandshispassion.Thesheerexcitementispalpable,achildlikegleethatmomentarilyerasestheburdensofadultlife.

Theclimaxofthesecondepisodeofteninvolvesanear-discoveryoramomentwherethelieisalmostexposed.PerhapsXianQi,outofconcernoranaggingsuspicion,decidestosurprisehimattheconvention.Theensuingchase,thefranticattemptstoavoidher,thesheerpanicastheirpathsalmostcross,createanail-bitingtensionthatisbothcomedicanddeeplyunsettling.Theepisodeendsnotwithafullconfession,butwithasignificantcrackinthefacade,amomentofrealizationforAhZhaithathissecretisbecomingtooheavytobear,andthattheinevitableconfrontationisdrawingnearer.Thelaughterhasfaded,replacedbythebittersweettasteofguiltandtheloomingshadowoftruth.Thequestionisnolongerifhe’llbefoundout,buthow,andwhattheconsequenceswillbefortheirrelationship.
